Temperatures attempting to affect duct tape quality.

Problem Scenario

Trying to see if a cold temperature will affect duct tape and the way it works.

Broad Question:

Can the quality of duct tape be reduced by a temperature?

Specific Question:

Can the quality of duct tape be reduced by a colder temperature?

Hypothesis:

I think the temperature will effect the quality of duct tape and not make it work the best possible.

Background Research

The kind of tape is very strong and attaches to things easily. It is used for industrial purposes like fixing a problem temporarley. Some particular people use if for unnecessary reasons. Its sticky under surface is very useful because it can make repairs to many things that need a temporary fix. It

Detailed Procedure

I placed one roll of tape in the freezer for 24 hours. Then took the very same roll of tape out and cut 2 strips of the same length tape off of it and taped 1 tip of each to the top of wooden cross type object. then filled a 8oz cup and filled it with water. then taped the remaining 2 tips of each piece of tape to the sides of the cup. Then lit it sit for 1 minute. i did this two time each for the tape placed in the freezer and not placed in freezer.

Discussion

In the end i finally found out that the colder temperatures did not effect the adhesion of the tape. It worked just as good as the tape left in a room temperature
place. Now it is known that colder temperatures do not effect the tape. My hypothesis was wrong. the tape acctually Stayed the same and kept the good adhesion after being placed in a cold temperature for 24 hours.

Benefit to Community and/or Science:

Well proven that the cold weather or climate does not effect the duct tape or its really good sticky hold. This is good to know because people may not know if it will hold during harsh cold weather. This can be a good benefit to people who need a temporary fix in winter or late fall because, they could use the duct tape to help them hold something together for a day or a week or so while they get things together.

Abstract

Well my question was will cold temperature effect duct tapes quaility. I hypothesized that the tape that was placed in the freezer will have its adhesion lower by 70%. But it turns out the tape was not effected by it, also disproving my hypothesis. It worked the same as the regular tape. Its nice to know that it will not be effected by colder temperatures because lots of people could benifet from knowing this.
